Dr.Alex Shvartsman is a top 10 graduate of SUNY at Stony Brook School of Dental Medicine. He also holds a BA degree in Biology and has a strong talent in art. After completing his residency at North Shore University Hospital at Manhasset, Dr. Shvartsman was appointed Chief Dental Resident. He has also completed a two year Fellowship in Dental Implants and Advanced Prosthetics and currently teaches implant dentistry at NSUH at Manhasset. As one of the youngest dentists to have received the prestigious Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry (FAGD), he is one of only 4 % of American dentists that has achieved this honor by completing 500 hours of continuing education, and passing a rigorous written examination. His commitment to staying current in the rapidly changing field of dentistry is exemplary. Dr. Shvartsman is the recipient of numerous awards, including the 2004 One of Americas Top Dentist Award, the Suffolk County Dental Society High Level of Clinical Competence Award, and The Certificate of Merit in Recognition of Excellence and Promise in Oral Diagnosis. He understands that the condition of your mouth affects your overall health and he is proud to have eliminated mercury from his practice. This means less bleeding, less bone damage, no more dry sockets and less pain and swelling afterwards. 90% Less Radiation X-Rays Our office utilizes modern digital x-rays! Not only is the radiation exposure reduced up to 90%, but the images that are produced give us more information than conventional x-rays. With this added information Dr. Shvartsman can diagnose smaller cavities and infections that, when treated earlier, results in less pain for our patients. Laser Cavity Scanner We have recently entered the Star Wars era with our new Laser Cavity Scanner. If you are like most of us, you ve had the dentist find a cavity, place a rather large filling and you ve wondered why the filling is so large if the cavity wasn t there six months before. The answer is that the cavity was there six months before it just wasn t big enough to show on x-rays and was not visible to the dentist yet. In fact, nearly 40% of early cavitites are undetected by conventional methods. Our new Laser Scanner can now find cavities years earlier, when the ultra-small cavity can be removed quickly and painlessly, many times without the need for an injection.
